NorthNode Group Counseling Selected to Participate in New CMS Opioid Use Disorder Value in Treatment Demonstration Program

This novel treatment model is designed to increase beneficiaries’ access to services, improve physical and mental health outcomes for those suffering from Opioid abuse, and expand social services to help those who reach recovery, stay in recovery.

Dover, Delaware (June 1, 2021) — NorthNode Group Counseling, LLC., (www.NorthNodeCounseling.com), a mental health and outpatient addiction recovery facility, is pleased to announce that it has been selected by The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ (CMS) Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation (CMMI) as a provider to offer expanded services under the Value in Opioid Use Disorder Treatment (VIT) demonstration.

Recently, the CDC reported the highest numbers ever recorded in U.S. history for deaths due to accidental overdose within a 12-month period. As a society caught in the midst of an epidemic of despair, more than 81,000 people have died from an overdose between May 2019 and May 2020 alone. Delaware was ranked second in the nation for its drug overdose mortality death rate, and in 2018 88% of those drug-poisoning deaths involved opioids.

CMS has rolled out the new treatment model to improve access to Opioid Use Disorder (OUD) treatments and services, and allow beneficiaries to receive expanded social services beyond what was currently available. All with hopes of potentially reducing overall Medicare expenditures.  The contract spans over the next 4-years, with an end date of April 2025. NorthNode is one of the 61 provider applicants chosen nationwide to participate in the program.

“Overcoming addiction is hard, but the road to recovery is possible,” said

Cora Banks, Chief Strategy Officer at NorthNode Group Counseling.

“By focusing on a broader treatment strategy of quality care, we aim to remove overlooked hurdles that can often detour a person’s journey towards reaching recovery. At NorthNode, we believe in treating our clients with dignity, and separating the person from the addiction.”

NorthNode offers those living with OUD the following out-patient recovery treatment services: medication, counseling and behavioral therapies, treatment planning, effective pain management treatments, and care coordination.

Just this week, Angela L. Robinson (LPCMH, NCC), the Clinical Director at NorthNode Group Counseling, was featured in a WebMD article, Life After Opioids, where she discussed how she helps clients reach recovery.
