CLINICAL THERAPIST
Provide mental health outpatient, SUD outpatient, and TSF services.
Who is she?
I have been clinically treating individuals for the past three years. I specialize in helping adolescents and/or their parents overcome complex traumas.
I have worked with youth who have experienced complex traumas with abandonment issues, depression, anxiety, self-esteem issues. I provide my clients with assistance with career planning, goal setting, redirection, experiencing behavioral issues and poor academic performance.
I have also worked with parents who have experienced traumas from their children being displaced from their home.
My work philosophy: I do not believe in failure. There is no such thing as “too late” unless you choose to give up. I believe in the resiliency and capabilities of my clients. I focus on acceptance, getting to know and understand my clients because judgment is nothing but a barrier to our therapeutic relationship. I am a ‘come as you are’ type of counselor so I can spend time focusing on what will truly help the client heal in whatever ways they want or need to.
Professional & Educational Background
With ten plus years of experience advocating for changes in the foster care system, I decided to become a social worker to help this population on a different level. Gaining 3 years of experience in substance abuse (particularly opioid addiction) out of college, I was looking for a career change. I would like to begin working directly with adolescents to assist in a multitude of ways. I am also interested in exploring family and couples therapy. I would like to be able to assist adults who are directly involved with the foster care system as well whether they have had their children displaced from their home, are a foster parent, or even an adoptive parent/kin caretaker.
I earned a Master in Social Work from Delaware State University in Dover, Delaware.
More About
I am a mom to a beautiful baby who challenges me and helps me grow everyday. I have a fiancé and 3 tiny dogs that I also love very much. My favorite non-work thing to do is play Call of Duty on my Xbox. I love to cook and spend time with my family.
